Health insurance for foreigners living in Türkiye
Foreign nationals applying for a residence permit in Türkiye may be asked for valid health insurance, depending on the type of permit. Private health insurance policies prepared for this purpose cover treatment costs at contracted healthcare providers in Türkiye, within the terms of the policy.

What to know before you apply
- The health insurance requirement depends on the permit type and your age. According to the Presidency of Migration Management, for some permit types insurance is not required for people under 18 or over 65.
- The policy period is expected to match the residence period requested. For a two-year permit, for example, a 1+1-year policy or two-year General Health Insurance (GSS) are mentioned as options.
- For a family residence permit, the sponsor must have valid health insurance covering all family members.
